France and French Things

I should get round to writing more about all of these (and there will be many pictures to illustrate soon) but for now - here are some 'observations'.

  1. Wine that costs 1 euro a litre and comes in a plastic barrel is really really nice.
  2. Cassoulet is the best food in the world, and is even better with confit of duck on top.
  3. Stansted is the arse-end of all airports.
  4. Villages in gorges are cool.
  5. Naming new species of insects must be really difficult.
  6. Cheese for breakfast is brilliant.
  7. The desire to drive old wooden boats down canals increases the longer you spend in the vicinity of the Canal du Midi.

Did I mention wine in a plastic barrel?

Firing the Cannon

We Got Married...

So this is going to be quite a long post...

Mr and Mrs Chilton

As you can see - it was in a church and everything - and it was the best day!

After the church we had a big party in a castle - and even fired a cannon...

Firing the Cannon!

And we had a dance...

Look vaguely co-ordinated don't we...

So that pretty much topped everything off - you can see many photos over on my flickr pages:

So - that was the wedding, but we weren't finished having fun, not by a long shot.

We went off on honeymoon to Africa, and had more amazing times chasing lions and fishes and sleeping in treehouses and eating crabs...

We started in Garonga...

Where we saw some frankly mahoosive lions!

Hungry?

At Garonga we went for a walk and hung out with Warthogs, met the marvellous CJ and Mosa, ate fabulous food and soaked up the amazing views from our balcony. Still, we had to leave, but fear not - we were off to the beach!

The beach was fab - and Ray spent most of her time being fabulous...

Off for a swim

Or scared of the water...

Run little girl

I spent my time trying to grow a beard...

In the sea

In all - everything was great. Maybe we should do it again sometime!

Hen Do

Hens...

While Chris was subject to despicable stag type shenanigans, I was far more lady like with my hens in Bath.

I also chased a hairy biker down the street for a hen do hug!

Hairy Biker

Stag Do

I don't want to know what that is, thank you teej

Stag Do!

I went to Bristol and drove mud buggies and watched really tiresomely boring football match (thank you Steve McClaren), and tried to make balloon animals...

And that is all...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...

Well, you may have noticed the pretty girl in the title bar of this here little website - that's because Ray wanted in, and for me to start acknowledging the fact that we are getting married (I may be in denial!).

Anyway, welcome to Ray, who will be able to put up anything she wants very shortly to make up for all the malingering, one-sided sarcasm that I distribute via this thing.

Anyway - here she is:

Laura & Dave Got Married!

So - I spent a lovely day in Kent, Meopham to be precise, and ate pig on a stick and particularly delicious pig skin...

Laura and Dave are now Mr & Mrs Hollinshead, which I think suits them:

A very happy couple, and whole bunches of congratulations for them...

There were fireworks too!

It was the best time...

Anyway - lots more pictures in this lovely Flickr set: Laura and Dave's Wedding

Oh, and Ross - never give me Rum again...
